Until we meet again.

Today was my last day at South Hills Middle School.

GAH!! i was ready to cry!

It's sad because i won't see any of my friends at school possibly EVER again. For those of you who don't know, I'm not going to Riverton High next year. Let me tell you why...

About 3 or 4 months ago, a friend from school told me that she wasn't going to Riverton next year either. She was going to a school called the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts.

I heard the word 'performing arts' and i was hooked.

I asked her more, and she said it was a complete performing arts school, and that it was in link with Highland High School up in Salt Lake, meaning it's stationed at Highland, and you take your core classes there, while you take your electives at the Performing Arts school. Her sister is going there as well, and was currently on the school's Dance Conservatory.

As soon as i got home, i told my mom all about this new school. I was so excited, and i wanted to know more about it. I went to the school one day to 'Shadow' for a whole school day. Basically i sat in the class like the rest of the students and observed. It was neat because i got to see what the school was like and how they run things around there.

The best part about that day, was simply the kids that were there. Every class that i walked into, the closest person to me would notice me and say, "Oh, Hi! Are you shadowing today?" "What's your name?" "My name is 'so-and-so!'" "You will love this class, it's so fun!" "Have you liked the other classes so far?" "Which one did you like best?" "Are you planning on coming here next year?" and so on.

The best thing i heard from every single one of them that day was,"You'll love it here!" "I love this school so much!"

Since when do teenagers love school?!

I knew after that day, i would have the best high school experience EVER if i went there.

But i was torn between the two. Although SPA (as the kids at the school called it :D) was a great place to get experience, have better classes, and be more prepared for a performing arts college, i would hate to leave all my friends from Riverton, and miss out on going to the best high school I had ever heard of.

Except SPA has the better teachers, better curriculum, and overall, better arts classes than a regular high school. Plus, should i do Dance Company, it's easier to work with my studio. Plus, a perf. arts high school looks awesome on a resume for a professional company, or a college company, or even a Broadway Musical, should i make it that far :)

But, if i go to Riverton, i wouldn't have to leave your friends, i would actually know someone that i would want to go to a dance with, and i could be on D-Co. with a lot of my friends. I wouldn't have to meet new people and try to make new friends.

You can see how a 15-year-old girl would make a big deal about this. ;)

Well, in the end, and due to inspiration from my family, my sisters, and one of my most supporting friends, i decided to go with SPA. One of my best buds (i won't name names) was pretty mad about it when i told him, and it made saying good-bye a lot worse. But in the end. I knew i had made the right decision. I knew going to SPA would benefit me much better for my future and the dream i want to pursue. And even tho i have to say good-bye to all my friends, i know it will be pretty easy to make new ones because all of the people at SPA are just very social anyway, and they'll make me fell welcome. Plus, i already have a friend from South Hills coming with me, and i made lots of new friends when i auditioned for SPA's Dance Conservatory (which i made! i'm excited!) who have already added me on Facebook! Woot woot! :D

ANYWAY, i got a little side-tracked. :D
Overall, my last day was a great day. I will miss everyone i met during my 3 years at South Hills. I loved just about every minute of middle school, tho i'm very much ready for high school. :) I wish i could take you all with me to SPA. That would be the best! Earlier today, as i rode the bus home, i thought about Oprah Winfrey's final show last week. (yes, i'm an Oprah fan) One of the things she said in her final phrase was, "Some people ask,'Do you feel leaving the show is bittersweet?' Well, i say, 'All sweet. No bitter.'" It seemed to play the same way in my situation. Although i won't see hardly any of my friends again, i know i made the right decision by going to SPA.

So, to all my friends at South Hills, i leave you with Oprah's final words on her show:

"I won't say 'Good-bye.' I'll just say, 'Until we meet again.'"
Love you Oprah! :D
